CI Coverings and Renovation Filters – a workaround

CI Coverings can’t work with Archicad’s Renovation system. An ‘Existing‘ Wall Cladding element will automatically generate spaces for ‘Existing‘ and ‘New‘ openings, but not ‘To Be Demolished‘ ones, and will not change this behaviour with different Renovation Filters.

However, there are a few workarounds you can use.

Since Wall Claddings can’t automatically handle ‘To Be Demolished’ openings, create new wall elements to match the openings and apply the correct Renovation Status, being:

  • ‘New’ for the ‘To Be Demolished’ opening
  • ‘To Be Demolished’ for the ‘New’ opening.

Then, send the new Wall element to a hidden layer.

Finally, to create a space in the main Wall Cladding for the ‘To Be Demolished‘ opening, use another element as an operator through the Solid Element Operator feature.
