PDF enhancements in PDM Professional 2017

There are a couple of bits of new functionality that have been introduced in PDM Professional in 2017 for pdf creation.

  • Output pdf from Office. Could have been seen as a bit of a limitation previously, it is now possible to generate pdf’s from Microsoft Office documents (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
  • Output to 3D pdf. Note: this function is only available if you have SOLIDWORKS MBD. Always useful for communication for users without SOLIDWORKS or eDrawings. Who, after all, doesn’t have a pdf reader? So it’s another string to the bow for collaboration.

Both of these new functions have been delivered by Task add-in. In the case of the Office pdf’s it is a new Task.

3D pdf has simply been added to the list of formats you can choose from in the latest version of the Convert Task (see image below). If you are interested in SOLIDWORKS MBD please do not hesitate to contact us.
