The Preview window in the PhotoRendering Settings can be refreshed manually or automatically.
To turn on automatic preview refresh, Open the PhotoRendering Settings (Windows > Palettes > PhotoRendering Settings)
Under the preview click on the far right drop down and select Auto refresh preview.
The 3D window must be active in order for automatic refresh to occur.
