Saving High Resolution Images From Solidworks Without Rendering
Tips and Tricks • Gayan • 10 May 2017

Sometimes you need to save a high resolution image of your design, but do not know how to use photo realistic rendering tools in SOLIDWORKS. Don’t worry, SOLIDWORKS has an easy way to save a high resolution image.
Turn on “RealView Graphics” and other view settings to enhance graphics of your model.
Then remove the tangent edges to get more realistic output. Go to, View -> Display -> Tangent Edges Removed.
Adjust the view orientation. Then go to File -> Save As
Select the preferred image file type and click on “Options” button.
The default setting is set to Screen capture which is same as selecting the Print Screen button. Change the option to the Print capture. Once it set to “Print capture”, the DPI and Paper Size drop down lists become available. For high resolution images set DPI 300 or larger. However, selecting higher DPI will cause saving time to be considerably longer.
