When using Archicad it is recommended among other Library related things to keep the Embedded Library clean and tidy:

If you have some unique textures, objects, or other elements (handles, lamps, taps etc.) it is better if you save them out to a Company Library:
and use that as a Linked Library:
The other main situation, when you deal with IFC files is better if you use Linked Libraries instead of placing them into the Embedded Library.
Some examples are when we save IFC to the Embedded Library in a teamwork project and when we used Linked Libraries:
A Teamwork file is ~3 times bigger than the solo Project file so it matters where you store the IFC, in the Embedded or in a Linked Library:
