Intercad, a division of Central Innovation, welcomed a big crowd to the Australian Manufacturing Research Facility (AMRF) in Bradfield in late October for SOLIDWORKS Innovation Day—an energetic showcase of what’s next for design and engineering across ANZ.
Hosted inside Western Sydney’s flagship advanced manufacturing precinct in the new Bradfield City, the venue reinforced the theme of the day: a place where industry, research and innovation meet to accelerate real-world outcomes.
The program opened with keynotes from Dave Martin (GM of Sales, Intercad) and Sharon Toh (VP AP South, Dassault Systèmes), setting a clear vision for how the SOLIDWORKS ecosystem and the 3DEXPERIENCE platform are helping teams design faster, collaborate smarter, and unlock AI-driven efficiencies.
Attendees then heard product deep dives from Joel De Souza and Alex Kok (Dassault Systèmes), offering a first look at new capabilities and practical workflows that will shape 2026 and beyond—grounded in how engineering teams actually work day-to-day.
Guided by MC Dave Martin, the event also created space for customers across disciplines—designers, manufacturers and innovators—to compare notes over barista coffee and catering from local businesses, before heading into guided tours of the Manufacturing Hall to see the future of manufacturing innovation firsthand.
A highlight of the day was a lively panel moderated by Fraser Creighton (Head of Marketing, Central Innovation), featuring Ben Kitcher (Executive Director, AMRF) alongside Sharon Toh and Dave Martin. The discussion explored Australia’s path to sovereign, digitally-connected manufacturing, and the importance of on-shore expertise and partnerships to make that ambition real.
The day concluded on a celebratory note, with the panel joining attendees to cut a SOLIDWORKS cake—marking 30 years of product innovation and the momentum building across our region.
“For Intercad, the event marked a milestone: reaffirming our long-standing partnership with Dassault Systèmes, our commitment to local customers in Australia and New Zealand, and our role in helping industry turn ideas into impact,” said Creighton. “We loved every minute—and we’re already looking forward to what we create together next.”
“There was a real buzz at the AMRF hosting Dassault Systèmes Innovation Day,” said AMRF Executive Director Ben Kitcher. “Amazing to see so many designers, engineers and innovators sharing ideas and exploring what’s next in design and PLM… Days like this capture why I love what we’re building at the AMRF—a place where expertise, curiosity and technology come together to imagine the future of advanced manufacturing.”
