Making Industry 4.0 accessible to smaller manufacturers

Australian manufacturers can see the value of connected production, shared data and real-time insight. For many smaller businesses, the challenge is finding a practical way to put those capabilities to work without taking on the cost and complexity of a large enterprise system.
MaXXflow was developed to address that challenge. Central Innovation’s materials requirements planning platform brings manufacturing information into a connected environment, helping teams understand what materials they need, when they need them and how supply decisions affect production.
For operations and finance teams, those connections matter. A purchasing decision affects stock availability. A supplier delay affects a production commitment. When those dependencies are managed across separate spreadsheets, it becomes harder to see the consequences early enough to respond.
Designed with manufacturers
Central Innovation involved manufacturers directly in the development of MaXXflow. Interviews, customer advisory boards and ongoing development partnerships helped the team understand where existing approaches were falling short and which capabilities would deliver practical value.
The result is a focus on the information smaller manufacturers need to run their businesses, with an emphasis on usability and adoption. A planning platform has to work for the people managing daily operations, including businesses with limited internal IT resources.
MaXXflow’s cloud delivery model supports that approach. Hosted on Microsoft Azure, the platform reduces the need for customers to maintain their own on-premises infrastructure. Its dashboards and AI-supported capabilities are designed to help users recognise operational risks and find the information needed to act.
A practical starting point
For manufacturers moving beyond manual planning, the first step is understanding where information becomes disconnected. Repeated data entry, uncertainty about material availability and time spent reconciling records can all indicate that existing tools are limiting the business.
Central Innovation brings decades of experience in engineering and manufacturing technology to those conversations. The objective is to make connected planning achievable for businesses that have previously considered it beyond their reach.
At its introduction in February 2026, MaXXflow invited manufacturers to register their interest ahead of wider availability. That early engagement continued the customer-led approach behind the platform: develop technology around real manufacturing needs and make it easier for smaller businesses to participate in digital transformation.
