New pdf export functions in PDM Professional at 2016 sp4

Unless you religiously read the release notes for each new servicepack for SOLIDWORKS then this little nugget of information may have passed you by.

In sp4 for 2016, SOLIDWORKS PDM Professional provides a new task add-in that lets users convert Microsoft Office files and DWG/DXF format files to PDF files.

The SOLIDWORKS PDF Task Add-in provides the following tasks:

• Office to PDF: For converting Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint files
• DWG/DXF Files to PDF: For converting DWG/DXF format files

To convert files to PDFs, users must have the following installed on the task host:

• For Microsoft Office files: Microsoft Office 2010 or later versions
• For DWG/DXF format files: SOLIDWORKS DraftSight Professional/Premium

So you do not need to wait for PDM Professional 2017 for these new tools.
