BIMcloud

  • BIM WITHOUT CONSTRAINTS

BIMcloud allows a BIM workflow on any network, hardware or software configuration, connecting teams and projects of any size or setup 24/7.

“I’ve been looking at similar solutions on other platforms specifically, how they’re structured and also the costs. Quite frankly, I’m genuinely astonished: GRAPHISOFT BIMcloud is quite amazing! It’s remarkably simpler, as well as much less expensive than other solutions. In my mind, this is a game changer for any large company with multiple sites! I don’t know anything else in the market that even comes close to what you guys have done!”

  • Infinite Scalability with the Cloud

Building Information Modeling (BIM) has been around for 30 years. BIM works perfectly at smaller scales where no extensive ‘work sharing’ is needed. However, BIM may be a bottleneck for larger teams requiring simultaneous access to projects from different locations. In other words, BIM is great but does not scale well — at least not until now.

The BIMcloud combines GRAPHISOFT’s patented ‘Delta’ BIM Server technology with the advantages of the Cloud, providing a scalable solution for teams and projects of any size with the following specific benefits:

    • The BIMcloud supports the HTTP, HTTPS and VPN protocols. With HTTPs, it is possible to achieve the same level of security as with VPN, while providing added convenience for remote access users
    • The BIMcloud connects project members in real-time from any distance. Network latency is simply not an issue for the BIMcloud
    • The BIMcloud functions on standard hardware, no expensive server-grade hardware or software is required to run the BIMcloud
    • The BIMcloud operates on any level of data security, and is easily deployed in public and private cloud environments
    • The BIMcloud integrates into the corporate environment allowing IT personnel to centrally manage users and data access
    • BIMcloud scalability supports any type of workload. Upgrading BIMcloud Servers on the fly or adding new server resources as needed, it will not interrupt the office’s productive work in any way.

Central Resource Management in the Cloud

The BIMcloud Manager has a browser based ‘zero deployment”’ management interface that controls each aspect of the BIMcloud.

BIMcloud Manager’s project management interface allows users to organise their servers and projects into a folder-like structure. The grouping logic is up to the company’s strategy (i.e. studios, offices, project types, owners or architects etc.).

BIMcloud integrates user management with the company’s existing corporate user directory via the industry standard LDAP protocol and eliminates user management overhead for the existing IT personnel. BIMcloud login credentials are automatically synchronized with company login credentials for email or network domain access.

BIMcloud’s role management engine allows the fine-tuning of user permissions for all resources on the BIMcloud (e.g. servers, projects, libraries, functionality etc.) matching the needs of virtually any company structure and workflow. For example if subcontractors are also allowed to work on the BIMcloud, their access can be restricted to a particular project or part of a project along with the functionality needed to complete the assigned task.

  • OPEN BIM is a universal approach to the collaborative design, realisation, and operation of buildings based on open standards and workflows. OPEN BIM is an initiative of several leading software vendors using the open buildingSMART Data Model.

    OPEN BIM PROGRAM

The OPEN BIM Program is a marketing campaign initiated by GRAPHISOFT®, Tekla® and others to encourage and facilitate the globally coordinated promotion of the OPEN BIM concept throughout the AEC industry, with aligned communication and common branding available to program participants.

OPEN BIM Certification is a technical certification system to help AEC software vendors improve, test and certify their data connections to work seamlessly with other OPEN BIM solutions.

    WHY IS IT IMPORTANT?

OPEN BIM supports a transparent, open workflow, allowing project members to participate regardless of the software tools they use.

OPEN BIM creates a common language for widely referenced processes, allowing industry and government to procure projects with transparent commercial engagement, comparable service evaluation and assured data quality.

OPEN BIM provides enduring project data for use throughout the asset life–cycle, avoiding multiple input of the same data and consequential errors.

Small and large (platform) software vendors can participate and compete on system independent, ‘best of breed’ solutions.

OPEN BIM energizes the online product supply side with more exact user demand searches and delivers the product data directly into the BIM.

    MEP SOLUTIONS

Thanks to recent technological developments, professionals in building design and development increasingly rely on integrated architectural and engineering workflows. Using the IFC standard as a common language, architects and HVAC engineers can share and coordinate their projects, using the work of other disciplines as a reference.

    STRUCTURAL SOLUTIONS

Increasingly, new developments in Archicad emphasise effective collaboration between architects and structural engineers. This collaboration requires reliable methods for sharing and storing building model information, design solutions and proposals; it also requires a way to manage all the changes made to the building model by any of the participants, while also minimizing the possibility for human error.

Archicad supports all major model and data exchange formats and some specialised formats, including intelligent 3D modeling, universal 2D drawing, documentation and image formats.
