To check the number of polygons that are active in your project use PolyCount. This is an ARCHICAD add-on that helps you control the number of 3D polygons in your ARCHICAD models by changing the level of detail (LOD) of library parts.
Polycount will help you manage your file size when there are issues with computer memory.
