Through collaboration between DKO and Breathe, this new project promises to settle into and improve the neighbourhood sympathetically, with a dedicated focus on nurturing community and exemplifying sustainability.

A sawtooth roof architecturally responds to the suburb’s industrial heritage, while simultaneously responding to issues of climate change – the pitch houses a 30-kilowatt PV solar panel system. Interfacing with three street frontages, the ground floor pushes and pulls from the sidewalk. Deep awnings planted edging and seating nooks all heighten the pedestrian experience. These gestures soften the building’s edge and invite the local community to interact with the building.

This project is straight collaboration in its true essence. The unsurmountable task of designing a 7.9-star sustainability-rated building was achieved through active collaboration made possible by BIMcloud and BIMx.

Design Freedom

Breese Street by DKO and Breathe is not constrained by geometry.  The project was developed with the use of free-form tools within Archicad which transformed it from a conceptual volume model to an information-rich BIM Model.

Sustainability was a key factor while designing Breese Street. As the project was designed using Archicad, features like native plants, beehives, community vegetable plot, weather sensitive design and a 20,000-litre rainwater collection tank were all integrated into the model, which could then be viewed as a BIMx.
